Quadrennial General Meeting

At the Quadrennial General Meeting held on 05 November 2016 at the Garden Court Hotel, O R Tambo, the President, Mr Temba Hlasho, retained the Presidency unopposed.
The majority of other NEC positions were also not contested.
The contested positions were Treasurer, Referee Director and 2 new National Executive Committee members of Judo South Africa are :

In April 2016, the President, Mr Temba Hlasho, attended the AJU Congress in Marocco and met with Mr Marius Viszer, President of International Judo Federation.
Meet 25 year-old Zack Piontek, a South African judoka heading for the Olympics in Rio.
When a young boy is asked what he or she wants to be when they grow up, there are always the usual range of predictable answers like 'doctor', 'fireman', 'policeman' or 'racing driver'.
Not in young Zack Piontek's case. His immediate response at the tender age of five was "I

Peru - Judo Tournament

Congratulations to ZACK PIONTEK on winning A BRONZE medal at the Judo tournament in Peru in the -90 weight category.
There were 26 entries in this weight category and Zack’s performance was as follows  :
First fight           -   BYE
Second fight       -   Winning Australia
Third fight          -   Semi-final – Lost against Great Britain
Fourth fight        -   Won bronze medal with two Waza-ari’s against Azerbaijan
Well done, Zack, we are proud of you.  Good luck with the tournament in Argentinia.

Refereeing & Coaching Seminar

Ref & Coach SeminarAn AJU Refereeing and Coaching Seminar was held from the 26th to the 28th of September 2014 in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.  The seminar was presented by Mr BoubkeurBenbada AJU Director of Refereeing, and Mr NacerOuarab AJU Director of Education and Coaching. 

Ref & Coach Seminar

 Referees and coaches from most of regions in South Africa attended the seminar.

The seminar was concluded with the evaluation and upgrading of several African referees to new AJU C,B and A levels.  According to organizers Mr Dirk Crafford, Director of Refereeing, Judo South Africa, and Mr Gert Gouws, Director Coaching and Education, Judo South Africa, the seminar was a huge success. 

South African referees and coaches benefitted from the seminar and indicated that many more of these type of interventions are needed and would be greatly appreciated.

We want to thank Africa Judo Union and the International Judo Federation for their continuous effort to promote the sport of Judo.
